Traveling is like oxygen in my life, new place,
new people new culture always attracts me. This time I visited
Daringbari. I was interested to see the place just because its
called “Kashmir of Orissa”. I didn’t
visit Kashmir but know about its world-famous scenic beauty. So I didn't want
to miss a chance to Visit this “Kashmir” in northeast India.
This place is a perfect place to visit with your
family and kids. Even It will not be a problem to travel with toddlers or
infants.
In this trip, we went to Bhubaneswar first and from there we went to Daringbadi for 1 night and then returned to Bhubaneswar stayed there for 2 days, and visited the famous temples, and then we went to Puri and stayed there for 2 days. Finally returned again from Bhubaneswar.

Daringbadi is a hill station which is situated
at a height of 3000 ft in the Kandhamal district of Orissa.
This place is named after British officer Daring
Saheb who was in charge of that place, in the back days of British rule.
This place is very popular among the tourist for
the scenic beauty of greenery.

Must know before you visit
If you are going to Daringbadi for a snowfall
then you will be disappointed. The climate is cool in Dec but snowfall is not
common.
There are mosquitoes, so be prepared. Though a good hotel will provide mosquito killer.
This place is good to rest for retired people or
honeymoon couples but for a family trip with kids perhaps be boring for more
than a Day.
If you already visited Darjeeling or Ooty or
Munnar then you may not feel much interested in this place.
Another important point is in Orissa most of the
roadside Dhaba or restaurant food are very spicy. So be prepared as per your
food habits. I enjoyed the food as I love spicy foods.
Daringbadi Temperature
During December and January, the climate is
really cold. At night temperature may drop to 0 degree. But daytime is
pleasant to roam around. It will be between 17 to 29 degrees. But there is no
snowfall.
From the end of February to November, this place
is quite hot.
I visited in March first week and it was quite
hot.

Best time to Visit Daringbadi
December and January are the best months to
visit Daringbadi. From June to September, there is heavy rainfall, and roads
will not be smooth to drive for. Also, the temperature is very hot during the
summer.
How to go Daringbadi
The nearest airport is Bhubaneswar airport. From
Bhubaneswar to Daringbadi is around 252 kilometers by road. Private taxis or
cabs can be booked for that. Also, there are AC or non AC Bus available from
different travel agents.
The nearest railway station is Berhampur
(Brahmapur) 120 km from Daringbadi.You can take a private taxi from the station
to Daringbadi direct. There are many travel agents available at an affordable
price. If you want to go by public transport then you must come to Bus Stand by
share auto or taxi from Berhampur railway station.
We directly booked a private car from
Bhubaneswar to Daringbadi. It costs around Rs.7500 for 1 night with a 7 seater
Innova.
On the way to Daringbadi, we visited Nirmaljhar temple. If you are traveling by private car do not miss the chance to
visit this ancient temple.
Hotels in Daringbadi
There are many hotels to stay in Daringbadi. But
I find the best is Deers eco-home. The location of the hotel is good as a
little far from the crowded and busy market area. Those who want to spend a few
days in a peaceful area must stay over there.

Places to see in Daringbadi
Though Daringbadi itself is a place with scenic
beauty still there are some places you would like to visit such as Midubanda
waterfall, Coffee garden, Hill view park, butterfly garden, Hill viewpoint. In
Midubanda waterfall you have to climb many steps down. Not advisable for
arthritis patients. This place is perfect for a week just to rest for retired
persons or for honeymoon couples.
